The stage lights at the theatre dimmed a bit this past month with the passing of Pat Shull.
Electric City Playhouse has been a member of the Anderson community for over 35 years, and Pat Shull was a member of the ECP family the entire time. In her youth, Pat moved to New York and spent time as a working actor, eventually coming home to Anderson where she taught children with disabilities during the day and became a familiar face in many Upstate community theatres evenings and weekends. Her love for theatre and children were integral to the creation of our Children’s Workshop in the summer of 1985. She was never one to hold back on or off stage; and when Pat wasn’t on our stage performing, or directing a production, she could always be seen in the audience supporting her theatre family. You may also remember seeing her more recently in local television commercials.
Because of her love for Electric City Playhouse, her ‘home’ theatre, a mutual friend asked during her Celebration of Life if we would be willing to designate a fund in her memory, as he would like to donate.
So, it is with great honor that we are establishing The Pat Shull Scholarship and Memorial Fund at ECP to support the involvement of children and youth in the performing arts. We would like to ensure Pat’s theatrical legacy lives on through the next generation.
