Electric City Playhouse Murder Mystery Writing Contest
Electric City Playhouse (ECP) in Anderson is accepting submissions for a playwriting contest.
Based on the popularity of the local work featured in “Life’s Stages” and audience demand for murder mysteries and holiday shows, ECP is combining multiple concepts into one for its very first Holiday Murder Mystery Writing Contest!
ECP is seeking full length, original plays. No one-acts or scenes, please. Eligible scripts may have had a reading or been workshopped, but may not have been fully produced or received any awards. The winning script will be produced as an ECP Plus show.
As the winning script will be staged between Thanksgiving and Christmas (exact dates TBD), a holiday theme, characters, or setting is required for the murder mystery. The holiday of choice is open to the writer’s preference (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and more, or a combination of holidays).
Submissions need to be typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced, pages numbered, and the script(s) fully proofread. All submissions must include a cover sheet with the show title and the writer’s name, address, email, and telephone number. Scripts will not be returned. ECP reserves the right to request any needed modifications to the winning script.
Writers may submit up to three scripts.
Preferred method of script submission is by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Hard copies may also be dropped off at ECP, 514 N. Murray Avenue, Anderson, SC 29625 during regular office hours. Please call 864-224-4248 to verify hours.
The submission deadline is March 1, 2020.
The winner will be notified by April 30, 2020.
